Visit Normandy
We look forward to welcoming you soon to Normandy, this lovely and wonderfully attractive region of France. Known for its shoreline, its many long sandy beaches, white-chalk cliffs and WWII bases, it has a relaxing landscape of pretty villages full of half-timbered houses and grazing cattle.
Its world famous sites are internationally celebrated: the Mont-Saint-Michel and its bay, Etretat and its dramatic cliffs, the D-Day Landing Beaches, Claude Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny, Rouen with its magnificent cathedral, the Bayeux Tapestry, the Haras du Pin and Deauville.
Normandy offers you the opportunity to travel back along the paths of William the Conqueror, Richard the Lionheart and Joan of Arc, discovering its architectural heritage, its charming chateaux, abbeys and museums. Normandy has also many sites, museums, monuments and events which recall a key period in modern history, June 6th 1944, when Allied troops liberate occupied France in WWII.
As the birthplace of the artistic revolution which was Impressionism, Normandy has motivated many artists to create works of art which are still in our consciousness to this day, offering them unique lighting, enchanted seascapes, amazing monuments and superb countryside. Having an international reputation for equestrian excellence, Normandy is a perfect destination for horse devotees. Here we find the Haras du Pin and Haras de Saint-Lô, and many key horse races and events.
Normandy is also really appreciated by lovers of gourmet food for its representative cheeses: Camembert, Livarot, Neufchâtel, Pont L’Evêque and drinks such as calvados, cider, pommeau and perry. Besides seafood you can also find the finest meat dishes.
You can reach Normandy easily by plane, train or by road, as it is just a two hour drive from Paris and its airports, Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly, or from the port of Calais.
Normandy is a quiet relaxing and tranquil part of France is definitely an ideal destination for a dedicated trip or as part of a wider tour, offering a combination of France’s best countryside, heritage, culture, food and entertainment.
Sand yatch on the beach
For those companies looking for corporate challenges, Enyevent DMC offers the opportunity to discover the thrills of extreme sports with a sand yachting experience on the top spots of Normandy.
What is this sand yachting about? You will glide across the land in a wheeled vehicle powered solely by the wind through the use of a sail – just like a real yacht in fact, but you won’t sink! Historically, land sailing (or sand yachting) was used as a mode of transportation or recreation. Since the 1950s it has evolved primarily into a racing sport. This challenge is suitable for companies wishing to offer their employees a rich activity sensation.
An initial introductory phase allows the participants to get familiar with the yachts and, then, a graded challeng is organised, with the presentation of trophies to the winners if desired.
Races are organised in accordance with the safety conditions required for weather conditions and the skill level of the participants.
The races are approved by the French Sand Yachting Federation. The Association is affiliated with the French Handisport Federation. We will be able to combine this activity with a nice lunch on the beach, oyster tastings and many other gastronomic delights.
D-Day and the battle area
We provide a quality and unusual expedition for exploring the sites of the Landings in Normandy and the battle area.
It is an idea of controlled coaching/teaching that examines the year 1944, a key year when sciences and techniques exploited on by the Allied Forces made the Liberation landings in Western Europe possible despite the more cutting-edge technologies of the Nazi occupying forces. By offering a unique “hands on” and dynamic experience, under the guidance of experts, with the vehicles and equipment of 1944, these programmes fill the gap left by traditional museums whose displays are behind glass, separated from the visitor and with often only a scripted commentary.
Through the five senses, the Academy approach is the key to a better understanding of the reality of 1944 as it impacted on the participants from different nations. A mobile, open-air museum, taking visitors to historic sites in vintage transport with on-board historians and D-Day memorabilia.
